Sizzle & Pop! Fire Opal is Hot

Who said "work what your mama gave you? Designer, Paula Crevoshay of this electrifying fire opal brooch Fire Empress, must have thought of this when creating her stunner.

Fire opal is gaining momentum with jewelry fans all over due to its vibrant head turning tint. The stone may be new to the mainstream but its legendary throngs of devotees date back to ancient Persia. They admired the fiery stone as a symbol of fervent love. Works for me.

Today it is often sourced from Mexico or other Central American deposits where it thrills with the variety of  orange-y shades that are produced. It does not hurt that Pantone named Tangerine Tango the color of 2012, and the stones looks pretty much like that moniker.

For this brooch Crevoshay nabbed an original fire opal jewel from master-cutter Glenn Lehrer; great pairing  of two power jewelers. Crevoshay is admired for her very artful jewelry designs, and is expert at combining colorful often analogous gems onto a single piece. Here she pays homage to the strength of a single stone-- fire opal with its alluring orange Popsicle punch.
